It sounds good enough to eat. But the coffee-and-vanilla concoction at the Spa at Rancho Bernardo Inn is a body treatment said to be the perfect antidote for tired winter skin. (The coffee grounds exfoliate while vanilla eases stress.) The Made Fresh Daily treatments are “cooked up” by the spa staff in conjunction with chefs at the inn to take advantage of seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms. Spa guests leave not only relaxed and pampered, but with “Spa to Go” recipe cards showing how to whip up at-home therapies as well as meals based on ingredients in their treatment. The coffee-and-vanilla body treatment is available from December through February.
The spa, part of the inn’s $25 million in improvements completed late last year, includes a patio with a Roman pool, outdoor treatment casitas, and a 2,500-square-foot saline spa pool.
