The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center

Published

The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is home to 100+ “do touch” science exhibits that stimulate the brain and induce fun. Known to many as the home of San Diego’s only IMAX Dome Theater, the Fleet plays the largest films on Earth that are entertaining and provide added educational value. What you may not know is that throughout the year, the Fleet Science Center hosts a variety of hands-on programs for children that expose their young minds to science in a fun environment. The Fleet’s Young Scientists program is designed for preschool-age children and their parents to explore science side-by-side in an awe-inspiring four-week program led by a Fleet educator. Spring, summer, and winter camps for pre-kindergarten through grade 8 students explore phenomena from the science of magic to outer space, continuing to excite young minds even when school is out on break.

The popular Saturday Science Club for Girls class is offered year-round on the second Saturday of each month. Girls in grades 5 through 8 interact with local women scientists while investigating a variety of topics including “Chemistry of Cosmetics” and “Mysterious Meteorology.”

Even birthday parties take on an educational twist, without sacrificing fun. Birthday guests enjoy science-themed workshops, interactive experience in the exhibit galleries, and a private room for the group celebration. Hands-on science + the Fleet Science Center = Fun!
