AirShow San Diego

Published

Taking place June 7-8 at Gillespie Field in El Cajon, Air Group One presents AirShow San Diego, featuring a collection of aircraft and performances commemorating the 70th Anniversary of “D-Day,” the allied invasion of Normandy. The show headliner will be the “D-Day Doll,” a C-53 that flew three missions in the D-Day invasion plus representative P-51 Mustangs and P-47 Thunderbolt aircraft. Back by popular demand will be John Collver’s War Dog T6/SNJ aerobatics, and, new this year, his race with jet car “Smoke and Thunder.” There will be many other historic aircraft flying and on display in addition to military re-enactors, paratroopers, and a mock battle with “Pyro.” Friday, June 6, is a free youth education day with a focus on aviation related science, technology, engineering, and math (A-STEM). Families can enjoy an expanded family fun zone and kid’s attractions. (www.ag1caf.org)
