Red Shoe Day

The 6th annual Red Shoe Day fundraiser takes place from 6:30-9:30am Thursday, June 25, when roughly 1,200 volunteers in festive costumes will be stationed at major intersections throughout San Diego County collecting donations for San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House, which provides 47 overnight rooms and services for families who have a child undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals. An estimated 250 family members rely on the Ronald McDonald House every day for meals, nap rooms, laundry facilities, and other comforts of home during an otherwise turbulent medical crisis.

“Support from community leaders like Councilman Chris Cate, longtime sponsors Wells Fargo, The UPS Store, Kiwanis Club of San Diego, Geico and McDonald’s, and the generosity of countless San Diegans are why Red Shoe Day has been so instrumental in helping families with a hospitalized child,” said Chuck Day, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. “Last year’s event raised roughly $150,000, which equates to about 1,000 nights of lodging at the Ronald McDonald House.”

Donations can also be made online at www.rmhcsd.org or in San Diego County McDonald’s restaurants.
