Beer to the Rescue

Month of May, 2017

More than 40 San Diego County breweries, beer-centric bars, and eateries will unite and participate in the 2017 Beer to the Rescue campaign to raise funds for the Lupus Foundation of Southern California. Established in 2015 by beer journalist, Ranch & Coast contributor, and lupus sufferer Brandon Hernández, Beer to the Rescue has raised more than $70,000 for the LFSC in the past two years, and is poised to increase that total this year via an assortment of charity beer sales and events taking place each day throughout the month of May, which is also Lupus Awareness Month. “We are expanding our efforts and using a percentage of funding received through Beer to the Rescue to set up a scholarship program for lupus patients in need of financial assistance for college,” says Hollaine Hopkins, executive director of the LFSC, which provides cost-free support services for people living with lupus in San Diego and Imperial Counties, as well as educational programs and grants for lupus research.
