The Crosby unveils a stylish new space

Posted on September 8, 2017

If you’re fortunate to snag an invite to golf at The Crosby at Rancho Santa Fe, be sure to stop by the Clubhouse Grille, which has just emerged from a full renovation courtesy of Maria Barry of Le Dimora in Carmel Valley. For Barry, the project was a true local labor of love. In addition to being a member of The Crosby, she also lives there, so it was a decorating task that she had her eye on for a while.

“From the first time I walked in there ten years ago, I thought, ‘I need to decorate this space.’ So, I reminded them to keep me in mind if the opportunity ever came about. Of course, the financials of the club weren’t great, so I never got the chance,” Barry recalls. The club changed hands several times over the years, eventually landing with a Korean firm, Bando National Corporation, who is footing the bill for a full renovation. By then, the choice of the right decorator was obvious.

Barry did exhaustive research on upscale golf spaces across the country, in part using the Wynn Las Vegas for inspiration. The space is outfitted in a red and white Tartan-style rug with modern Bernhardt leather chairs appointed throughout. Seven televisions were added for optimal sports viewing. Chandeliers with Emerson bulbs, banquettes, and dining tables were all custom-created by Le Dimora. The pièce de résistance is a LED-backlit bar display, which illuminates the bar and top shelf offerings.

Jeff Daley of Daley Custom Homes was general contractor for the project. “There was a big column and we blew that out, so the interior can be opened to the outdoor patio with a new bifold door system,” he explains. For Daley, the job was also personal. “Living locally in the Ranch, playing at The Crosby, and knowing what the club went through, I wanted to make sure that my company got it right,” he says.

Scheduled to be the first of many renovations throughout The Crosby’s multiple spaces, General Manager Bryan Addis thinks it’s a harbinger of more good things to come. Addis says, “In a small window of time, we have already completed extensive work on property. It’s exciting for our membership to see the energy restored. The Crosby is a very cool place to be again, and we intend on keeping it that way!”   Jackie Bryant

Looks Great, I love traditional Craftsman architecture and design with a modern twist! We need to make a trip by to Crosby Clubhouse Grill to see for myself and maybe try a round as a duffer and hope to not embarrass myself!
