Romero Classical Guitar Quartet Benefit Concert
February 25, 2018 | St. James Catholic Church, Solana Beach
The Romeros are renowned as one of history’s great musical families, having played to audiences all over the world, including royalty, world leaders, and the Pope. Few have done so much to spread the music of the Spanish guitar as the late Celedonio Romero, virtuoso, composer, and poet. His musical legacy lives on in the legendary guitar quartet he formed with his sons Celin, Pepe, and Angel, and continues today with his grandsons Celino and Lito. Over half a century after walking onto the stage as the first classical guitar quartet, they continue to be a veritable institution in the world of classical music, dazzling countless audiences and winning the raves of reviewers globally.
The Romeros will make a rare in concert performance at 2pm to benefit the retirement fund for the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, a group of Catholic priests who have provided charity work across the U.S. for more than 180 years.
