Luxury swimwear brand ViX combines Brazil’s bold sexiness with California’s casual coastal style. Founded by La Jolla’s Paula Hermanny, the global brand offers sizzling swimwear, resort wear, and accessories that celebrate the female form. Hermanny started the company after moving from her native Brazil to study English at San Diego State. She fell in love with San Diego’s beaches and laid back vibe, but couldn’t find a bikini she liked.

Hermanny founded ViX in 1998, and by the next year, three of her swimsuits were making a splash in the pages of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. She launched her first full collection in 2003 and added resort and accessories in 2012. The brand now has more than 400 employees, a manufacturing facility in Brazil, and is sold online and in hundreds of stores nationwide, including Nordstrom La Jolla at UTC, Diane’s Beachwear in Del Mar Highlands and La Jolla, Del Mar’s Julie’s Beachwear, and Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa.
