The Conrad Grand Opening Weekend

La Jolla Music Society celebrated the launch of its cutting-edge new home, The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, with three illustrious opening-weekend concerts in the $82 million, 49,000-square-foot complex. Featured performers included four-time Grammy Award-winner Seal, violinist Hilary Hahn, pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, ukulele artist Jake Shimabukuro, jazz band The Hot Sardines, and many more. Audiences had the first opportunity to experience live music in the meticulously-constructed acoustics by sound expert Yasuhisa Toyota from the Tokyo-based Nagata Acoustics. Gala chairs included Debbie Turner, Sheryl Scarano, and Susan Hoehn. The opening of The Conrad coincides with La Jolla Music Society’s 50th anniversary.
