Patrons Of The Prado
Casablanca was the theme of this year's fundraising event by Patrons
of the Prado to benefit The Old Globe, Timken Museum of Art, and
The Hall of Champions. Co-chaired by Ellen Zinn and Courtney Liddy,
the ritzy event at Bea Evensen Fountain on the Prado featured cocktails,
silent and live auctions, dinner by Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse
Grille, dancing to Kicks, and games of blackjack, craps, and roulette.

Memories In The Making
The Alzheimer's Association San Diego/Imperial Chapter presented
Stardust Memories in the Making Gala at the Manchester Grand Hyatt
in celebration of its 25th anniversary. The event was chaired by Marty
and Gail Levin. Notable live auction items included a package of ten
VIP house seats and two backstage passes to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
in New York City, which was bought by Muffy Walker and John Reed,
and was donated by Donald and Darlene Shiley. The event raised
over $440,000 for the organization.

Hats Off To San Diego
Magic thru Giving was the theme for the 13th Hats Off luncheon, presented
each year by the Gold Diggers (Gifts Of Loving Donors), a nonprofit volunteer membership organization. Held at the Prado and chaired by Julie Sarno, this
year's beneficiaries were the San Diego Center for the Blind and the Family

  Mainly Mozart Finale
The 18th annual Mainly Mozart Festival went off with a bang, featuring a concert of Wolfie's Mass in C, K. 317 and Requiem, K.626, followed by a reception at The University Club atop Symphony Towers. Those in attendance at the festive black-tie event included County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price (Mozart year chair), maestro David Atherton, members of the orchestra, sponsors, and VIP guests, all of whom agreed that the concert, venue, food, and ambiance were wonderful. - Jane Shiomi, photos by S. Boots And Boogie
Fairbanks Republican Women celebrate Dubya's birthday with a fundraiser that raises the bar each year. Nearly every elected Republican office holder and candidates for office were listed on the event's honorary committee and gathered at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Attendees included Rick Amato of KCBQ, emcees Congressman J.D. Hayworth and Hugh Hewitt, the Color Guard of the San Diego Armed Services, and Miss USO. Event chair Linda Abrams ensured that the celebration went off in grand style.

  Happy 30th
San Diego Repertory Theatre's 30th anniversary celebration, produced by Rob Appel at three different venues, each highlighting a decade of the Rep's history. The Early Years reception featured cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the Broadway Terraces of Napa Valley Grille. Costumed performers then escorted guests to the Westgate Hotel for the Middle Years moonlit dinner, and the Current Years was celebrated on the rooftop terrace of the Westin Hotel with a cabaret show and live mambo dance orchestra.

Casino - You Bet Your Life
The 23rd Annual Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas Gala
at the La Costa Resort and Spa featured Las Vegas-style
gaming, a runway fashion show, lounge singers, celebrity
impersonators, and plenty of fabulous prizes. More than 600
Scripps supporters helped raise $210,000 for the Scripps
Memorial Hospital Encinitas Emergency Department Expansion
Project. KUSI's Kimberly Hunt was the emcee for the evening,
which was also attended by legendary sitar player Ravi Shankar.
