Deck The Palms In Seaport Village
Celebrating the holidays isn't just about cold weather traditions. Embrace what is loved about Christmas in Southern California on December 3 at Deck the Palms in Seaport Village. Decorated palms will line the walkways of the shopping village, complemented by award-winning life-size sculptures of sandmen. The event will also have an area for children to create ornaments, and live Calypso-style holiday music will entertain attendees throughout the day. "We plan to celebrate the holidays in flip flops and board shorts," says Seaport Village general manager Terry Hall, "the way that we should with our remarkable December climate." Patti LuPone

Winter Fantasy
The aptly titled Winter Fantasy takes place on December 6 with themes of snowflakes, winter white, silver ice, diamonds, and crystal blue. The La Jolla Playhouse's 2006 gala features a performance by Tony Award-winning actress, singer, and star of Sweeney Todd, Patti LuPone. In addition, the imaginative celebration offers food and wine, gifts at some patron levels, and great company, since so many guests share a passion for theatre. While there will be a world-traveled, cosmopolitan contingent present at the party, there are also levels of participation for those not quite so worldly (yet). A mere $75 gets you in to A Solstice Soiree dessert and dance party, which begins at 9:30pm. Of course, you can buy the ultra patron ticket at $2,500, with the many perks that accompany that level of patronage. But, it is the fact that there is something for everybody that adds a dash of excitement to the party. Debby Jacobs will chair the affair, and Zowie Bowie will provide music at the dance party. Neighbors Helping Neighbors
There's nothing like being waited on hand and foot by your own neighbors. And at Delicias it was all for a good cause. NeighborHelp's 8th Annual Celebrity Dinner raised more than $26,000 for scholarships, after-school enrichment programs, books, computer equipment, toys, clothing, and holiday dinners. Founded by Muffy Walker in 1998, NeighborHelp reaches out to less fortunate members of the community — children, families, and senior citizens — who are struggling financially to make ends meet.
