Dashing Through The Snow
Gone are the days of puffy jackets and layering frumpy clothing just to stay warm. This season’s winter wear is sleek and chic, offering everything from striking white and black to warm earth tones, vivid prints, and vibrant colors. Luxurious cashmere abounds, as does wool, leather, and oh-so-cozy shearling. Whether you’re headed for Aspen, a trip East, or to the local mountains, be sure to update your wardrobe with a few stylish stunners.

Scuffed knees and grass-stained jeans may be the prominent fashion statement most days, but for those fashionable holiday parties, dress your tween up in some of the latest winter fashions and watch the flashbulbs pop. — Alicia Garcia

Z Is For Zandra
Hot from the runways of London and Paris, Zandra Rhodes presented her Romantic Moonlight Haute Couture Collection at a luncheon in the lobby of The Westgate Hotel. Local celebrities and guest models descended the staircase in the Grand Lobby wearing Rhodes’ signature silks and chiffons in vibrant hues. She left no detail undone. The models’ sky-high hair was inspired, she said, by the domes of Russia. Proceeds benefit the American Friends of Zandra Rhodes Museum London.

Shopping With A Cause
Ronda’s Closet in Carmel Valley recently held an all-day shopping and mingling event, from which a portion of the proceeds benefited the San Diego Cancer Research Institute. The nonprofit affiliate of the San Diego Cancer Center offers art therapy, yoga, Reiki, acupuncture, and other courses with the goal of treating body, mind, and spirit — not just the cancer. The institute and its volunteers are near and dear to boutique owner Ronda Chowaiki, who is currently battling breast cancer and aims to spread the importance of a healthy emotional outlook to help conquer the disease. Guests at the event enjoyed food donated by Panera and Villa Capri, and shopped among such lines as Sky, Red Engine, Free People, Antik Denim, and others (many of which donated items for raffles and giveaways).
