Rancho Santa Fe Library Guild Fashion Show
On March 21, the Rancho Santa Fe Library Guild will revive its fashion show with an elegant brunch at the Garden Club, followed by a show featuring the fashions of Los Angeles-based designer Lourdes Chavez. As a student at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Chavez was a finalist for the Bob Mackie Outstanding Achievement Award Scholarship. She was one of only three Americans accepted to participate in Recontre Suisse De Jeune Talent awards in Switzerland, and was acknowledged for outstanding achievements by the Fashion World Expo in 1985. Chavez began designing for the stars by winning the Nolan Miller/Dynasty Contest, creating an outfit worn by Linda Evans on the hit TV series. Not a trend follower, Chavez believes that a woman should know herself and her style and choose the clothing that most suits her, rather than simply following what fashion dictates. Tickets are $50 per person; sponsorship opportunities available. (858/756-2754) — Jane Shiomi
