Circus In The Park
Patrons of the Prado’s fundraising gala, themed Circus in the Park, is set to take place on July 17 at the Organ Pavilion. Each year three museums are chosen to receive the funds raised that year — this year’s recipients include Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, Mingei International Museum, and the Museum of San Diego History. Guests will enjoy big band entertainment by Kicks, dancing under the stars, delectable food prepared by signature chef Steve Black of the Sheraton, and silent and live auctions highlighting fabulous dinners, golf packages, jewelry, trips, and more. The Patrons of the Prado have raised over $1 million in support of the museums over the last six years. (619/226-7323, www.patronsoftheprado.org) — Jane Shiomi

May Day
The Del Mar Unit of Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary presented May Day for Children, a fashion show and luncheon at Paradise Grille in Del Mar’s Flower Hill Promenade. LeAnn Rytz and Jennifer Busick co-chaired the event to benefit the hospital’s Healing Environment. The Rare Earth and Madison Leather showed off the latest in spring fashions, shoes, and accessories, while ladies sipped "May Day Martinis" and lunched on Paradise Salads with grilled chicken. The Del Mar Unit is already making plans for its signature fundraiser, Hats Off To Children, which will be held next spring after a year’s hiatus.

This year’s event was chaired by Felicia Mandelbaum, Nadja Kauder, and Barbara Lubin with auction co-chairs Jennifer Kagnoff and Jeri Rubin. Jewish Family Service is a comprehensive social service organization that now serves over 20,000 people annually. Fine Dining With Father Joe
A group of underprivileged adolescents from Father Joe’s Villages were recently treated to an evening of fine cuisine as the special guests at Innfusion at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. The event came about thanks to the efforts of Rancho Santa Fe resident Mary Bradley, who is friends with Father Joe Carroll, to give the teens the opportunity to hone their social skills while enjoying a gourmet dinner, which is a rarity for them. Years ago, Bradley used to take out a group of children associated with another organization, and thought it would work just as well with the Villages’ teens. Father Joe’s Villages is an organization that helps people get back on their feet, offering assistance through the use of various resources such as job training, education, health care services, substance abuse counseling, and childcare.

Nate Kaeding

Teeing Up For A Cause
The 5th Annual Dennis Campbell Memorial Golf Tournament recently took place at Morgan Run Resort in Rancho Santa Fe. More than 80 people attended the golf tournament, dinner, and silent auction that included valuable signed memorabilia — a baseball signed by Barry Bonds, a basketball signed by Magic Johnson, and a Nate Kaeding-signed winning football from a post-season game. First place went to Nate Kaeding of the San Diego Charger’s team, and second place went to Vince Coleman of the St. Louis Cardinal’s team. Brain tumors are currently the leading cause of cancer death in children under age 20 and are the third leading cause of cancer death in young adults ages 20-39. The money raised from the golf tournament will directly aid patients and families who suffer from this devastating disease.
