More Bro Than Pro
Saturday, June 7, marks the date for the 4th Annual Switchfoot Bro-Am charity surf contest and concert at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. The vision of San Diego-based rock band Switchfoot, the Bro-Am gives back to the community with an all-ages, fun-filled day at the beach, while also raising funds and awareness for a local children’s charity. This year’s event benefits the San Diego and Oceanside branches of StandUp For Kids.

"Over the past three years the Bro-Am has grown from a small dream into a beautiful reality; it’s extremely touching to see our entire community rallying together for our youth," says Switchfoot’s Tim Foreman. "This year we’re honored to be partnering with StandUp For Kids, a nonprofit organization helping homeless and street kids in San Diego for the past 18 years. We’re thankful to live in San Diego, thankful for all the people who continue to work together to make a difference."

The surf contest, featuring riders representing Hurley, Billabong, Macbeth, and more, will be followed by a free concert with special guests on the beach. An after-party at the Belly Up Tavern will round out the day to help raise additional funds for StandUp For Kids.

In addition, an intimate auction night event will take place at Pacific Coast Grill in Solana Beach on Wednesday, June 4, featuring hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, silent and live auctions, an exclusive performance by Jon Foreman of Switchfoot, and the opportunity to meet and mingle with surf and music industry notables while supporting a worthwhile cause.
