Dos Aguilas Binational Fiesta
The Dos Aguilas Binational Fiesta draws hundreds of sponsors and guests from both sides of the border to help fund the San Diego Natural History Museum’s bi-national education and research programs. This year’s event honored representatives from Kyocera International: Rodney Lanthorne and Saul Garcia Huerta — plus Teresa Drew and Mauricio Monroy of Deloitte. So far, $500,000 has been raised for the museum via Dos Aguilas.

A Spring In Their Steps
Wendy Walker hosted a garden party on a glorious day to benefit Kids Korps USA. Models sashayed around the pool wearing the latest spring fashions from designer Jose Solis of Bill Blass New York. Blass executive V.P. Rodney Hutton described the late Blass as "an American original, an American icon," who urged, "If you love style, live it. Have it permeate your life." No doubt Blass would have loved the event, a stylish way to welcome spring.

Women Of Dedication
The 2008 Women of Dedication event was a solid hit. Beautifully planned by chairs Dulie Ahlering and Marleen Shook around a theme of Our parade of Roses, the luncheon and salute to the finest volunteers of San Diego by the Salvation Army proved to be memorable. A delightful meal, along with gorgeous centerpieces and moving human stories, combined to etch in the minds of all those present the importance of helping others. Fifteen selfless women were honored as the best of the best. — Jane Shiomi, photos by Paul Andrews |

An Evening In Casablanca

The highlight of the evening was a performance by Obie Award-winning singer Yvette Freeman, best known for her role on the weekly television show ER and her starring role in the off-Broadway show Dinah Was about Dinah Washington. — Jane Shiomi, photos by Bob Stefanko |
