Patrons Of The Prado Thank You Party
It’s a rare opportunity to visit a home that has the size and look of something out of this world. A wonder of glass, wood, and refined concrete, the house — aptly named Suncatch — is the pride of architect Norm Applebaum and is owned by Charles and Tanya Brandes. At the home, members and major contributors of the Patrons of the Prado enjoyed an afternoon event organized by Lola Green and Susie Biddick, hors d’oeuvres by Pamplemousse Grille on the terrace beside the pool, as well as a tour guided by the architect himself.

  Symphony At Salk
The 11th annual Symphony at Salk epitomized the high standards of excellence of the renowned Salk Institute for Biological Studies, which is based in La Jolla and admired throughout the world. Irish tenor Ronan Tynan performed to the accompaniment of the San Diego Symphony, led by guest conductor Thomas Wilkins. As in former years, one of Francoise Gilot’s (widow of science icon Jonas Salk) paintings graced the posters, invitations, and programs.

Cruising With The Chefs
Cruising with the Chefs Gala added an after party this year, and the entire evening benefited Meals-on-Wheels. It also greatly pleased the palates of its many guests, who feasted on tasty gourmet food provided by very talented chefs. Everyone ate heartily. Called the Farewell Cruise, in tribute to Patricia DeMarce, the successful event was chaired by Patricia Moises and Fern Murphy and featured television news anchor Carol LeBeau as master of ceremonies.
