Well In Hand
While it might not be snowing in San Diego, gloves receive a warm welcome this fall. Options abound with styles appearing in soft knits, metallic and glossy leather, or with fur trim — so there’s no excuse for being caught empty-handed. — Mia Stefanko, photo by Vincent Knakal

Big Top Bag
An authentic piece of Cirque du Soleil can be given this holiday season — the limited-edition Big Top Messegner Bag is made of canvas cut from one of Cirque du Soleil’s big-top tents, giving new meaning to the term "reduce, reuse, and recycle." The bag may even have surface marks, which reflect the long life of the canvas and the worldwide journey it has experienced. (www.cirquedusoleil.com) — Jane Shiomi

Joyous Jewelry
With a name like Joy Honey, it’s no wonder that she’s creative. Honey came to San Diego two years ago, bringing her eclectic jewelry designs that meld her vintage inspiration and love for mixing different mediums into her designs. Honey finds most of her materials by scouring antique stores and vintage shops for unique, one-of-a-kind pieces including brooches, jewels, and pearls. She then hand makes each unique piece featuring semi-precious stones, sterling silver, and/or gold. The line, called Honey Pieces, is available at Tatiana in Del Mar. Featured here is a multi-strand pearl and crystal necklace embellished with a vintage pearl and crystal brooch. In the New Year Honey will launch Dipped in Honey, a high-end line. Stacie Irvine
Tall Order
Frustrated that she couldn’t find jeans long enough for her nearly six-foot frame, Rancho Santa Fe resident Stacie Irvine decided to design them herself. The Charlie M. Collection was born. Named after its investor, the Irvine-based company combines unique styling, fabrics, and fit focusing on the tall woman. Irvine says trends this year include trouser styles, although skinny is still in. And much to the relief of the more "mature" woman, a higher rise is replacing the how-low-can-you-go look. Denim is also dressing up. The Charlie M. Collection offers unusual fabrics such as denim with linen, bamboo, and cashmere, or, for a fun look, gleaming gold and silver. Even though Charlie M. specializes in the tall woman, the company has options for just about everyone. Prices range from $160 to $300, and $250 to $1,000 for custom jeans. The Charlie M. Collection is available through trunk shows, special events, and at The Rare Earth and TRE boutiques locally. (949/748-1070, www.charliemcollection.com)
