Monte Carlo
This year’s Monte Carlo! Monte Carlo! marked the 30th anniversary of the
Museum of Contemporary Art. Lise Wilson and Steve Strauss served as
chairs, with all of the gala visuals keyed to black and white, resulting in a
stunningly elegant decor. A large crowd celebrated art and culture in the
museum venue, as guests gambled, dined on fine cuisine, exchanged
chitchat, then partied into the wee hours. It was a most sophisticated evening.

Honoring New Paths
A New PATH (Parents for Addiction Treatment & Healing) recently hosted a party to honor the patrons and honorees of the second annual Strut for Sobriety luncheon, awards ceremony, and fashion show. The party, held at the home of Annika and Gordon Kovtun, and co-hosted by Lael and Jay Kovtun, featured wine and hors d’oeuvres and music by After Five. A New PATH aims to reduce recidivism, save lives, heal families, and move toward a healthier society.

Jeans For Genes
Nearly 300 gathered at the first-ever Jeans for Genes benefit gala to benefit cancer research at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. Donning black-tie formal wear and glitzy jeans, guests enjoyed trackside cocktails and cheered on the 9th race Sidney Kimmel Cup. Honorary chairpersons Sidney and Caroline Kimmel were joined by Donald Breitenberg and Jeanne Jones; Katherine Kennedy and Robert Horsman; Valerie and Harry Cooper among others. SummerFest Gala
La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. One of the most recognized annual chamber music festivals, this year’s SummerFest featured 15 performances in three different venues located throughout San Diego. A gala event took place at the home of Joan and Irwin Jacobs, where guests enjoyed a caviar and Champagne reception, chamber music, and dinner, then danced the night away to the music of the Mario Olivares Band. — Jane Shiomi, photos by S. Circle Of Life 100
Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas recently celebrated its 2nd annual distinguished achievement award luncheon and fashion show. Held at Four Seasons Resort Aviara and called Circle of Life 100, the event honored Toni Leichtag for more than 20 years of volunteer leadership at Scripps Encinitas. Guests at the daytime event enjoyed a reception and silent auction, luncheon, program, live auction, dessert, and a fashion show by Doncaster Studio
