Jewel Ball
Approximately 900 glamorous supporters gathered for this year's Jewel Ball,
themed Club 6 Oh! and again held at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.
Always a sellout, this year's gala was chaired by Wendy Segall, and also
celebrated Las Patronas' 60th birthday with a club-like atmosphere.
Guests enjoyed hip music, cool drinks, and a ton of goodies in both
the opportunity drawing and silent auction.

Sharp Memorial Hospital Gala Fusion
High Tech Meets High Touch celebrated Sharp Memorial Hospital's new
Cardiothoracic and Vascular Institute. Guests at the black-tie event
learned about the accomplishments of affliliated physicians, technology
making a difference in the lives of San Diegans, and a preview of the
future of medicine at Sharp Memorial Hospital. The event raised more
than $200,000 for the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Institute.

Stage Dressing
The Globe Guilders Fashion Show, where fall 2006 fashions from a variety of designers were artfully mixed with couturier retro garments. The show moved beautifully, incorporating elements of theatre along the way — especially fitting as the event benefited the Old Globe Theatre and was produced under the auspices of the Globe Guilders, its long-time support group. Gretchen Burns designed and coordinated the runway show, and Carol Hanson chaired the event, while also currently serving as Globe Guilders president.

Rendezvous In The Zoo
More than 1,000 guests partied at the 23rd annual Rendezvous In The Zoo (RITZ). Because the fundraiser celebrated the San Diego Zoo's pachyderms, large-scale visuals featured images of elephants, rhinos, and hippos in settings filled with exotic flowers, vibrant foliage, water, dragonflies, and butterflies. Creative design wizards were Dick Ford and Liz Smith. Congratulations to chair Carol Chang and co-chair Sue Raffee, who delivered an evening that will linger in memories for a long time.

Roll Out The Barrel
The recent Roll Out The Barrel event at Meritage Wine Market in Encinitas
was a big success for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego, the
recipient all of the proceeds. Wine lovers had the opportunity to sample
future offerings from many wineries, along with food from local restaurants.
Guests also bid on numerous silent auction items to help sponsor wishes.

Opening Day
Opening Day 2006, ringing in the start of the 67th meet held at the Del Mar Racetrack, met track-goers expectations with bustling balconies, flowing cocktails, the hat parade, stunning outfits, and, of course, riveting horse racing that would make Bing Crosby proud. The only thing out of the ordinary was the summer heat wave, which had those in the turf club and box seats especially thankful.

Summer Night At The Bridges
The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe recently held an event to welcome
new members to the private, luxury community. A concert featuring
Wayne Foster Orchestra was held on the lawn in front of the
clubhouse, where tables were set up and guests enjoyed a
summer evening of wonderful food, cocktails, entertainment,
and mingling.
