Fashion Week San Diego

Published

RHCREATION, a line of resort wear that can take you from “the poolside to the party” is the winner of this year’s Fashion Week San Diego, a week-long event that attracted 3,500 people to downtown’s Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier. Richard Henderson, the line’s Los Angeles-based designer, was born in Belize, and is inspired by the multicultural mix of colors from SoCal to the Caribbean. His business partner, San Diego native Tim McGee, is also an artist whose water color-printed fabrics were used in the collection. The audience chose RHCREATION based on creativity, wear-ability, and quality. The prize package includes marketing advice, a meeting with buyers at ModCloth.com, and money to grow the brand.

Fashion Week San Diego, showcasing the work of 26 emerging designers, featured three nights of runway shows, a beauty symposium, live art demonstrations, and a closing day trunk show where designers sold $18,500 worth of merchandise. Founded by PR/retail pro Allison Andrews in 2008, FWSD is designed not merely to show off the latest trends, but to launch careers.
