Serving Seniors Gala

May 2, 2019 | Del Mar Country Club

Serving Seniors will host its sixth annual Experience of a Lifetime Gala from 5:30-9pm. The organization aims to raise $475,000 for its programs and services, including 600,000 nutritious meals, affordable housing, healthcare, and more for nearly 5,000 low-income and homeless seniors in San Diego County. The theme of this years’ Experience of a Lifetime fundraiser is “Stories for the Ages,” celebrating the organization’s clients’ moving journeys of transformation and hope. Chaired by Serving Seniors’ board member Ted A. Lange, Sr., the event will feature a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, and the popular wine grab. Attendees will enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres made with locally-sourced ingredients while perusing enticing auction items. Live and silent auction items will include luxury travel packages and exclusive experiences to help guests create their own “stories for the ages.” Del Mar Country Club’s Executive Chef Jonathan Sudar will create an exclusive menu with fine wine pairings inspired by local California cuisine. “I am excited to create a special menu for Serving Seniors’ guests and honored to help support the nutrition and health of seniors living in poverty,” says Chef Sudar.

Serving Seniors serves 2,600 meals a day at ten congregate dining sites and via home-delivery to homebound seniors across San Diego County. More than 80 percent of the organization’s senior clients live below the Federal Poverty Level and struggle to meet basic needs. Many clients regularly have to choose between paying for medication, rent ,or their next meal. Serving Seniors’ comprehensive services address the wraparound nutrition, health and social needs of older adults living in poverty. “We are dedicated to supporting San Diego seniors living in poverty so they may live healthy and fulfilling lives,” says Paul Downey, the nonprofit’s president and CEO. “By attending this memorable gala and hearing the inspirational stories of our seniors, guests will leave with their bellies and hearts full knowing they are positively impacting the lives of nearly 5,000 seniors right here in San Diego.” Individual tickets are $350. Tables of ten are $2,500. Premium tables are $3,500. 619.487.0701, servingseniors.org/events/experience-of-a-lifetime
